Knowing Your Rights and Getting Proper Representation

drug criminal convictionControlled Substances

There are many different drug charges, and numerous outcomes depending on the substance, the circumstances of the offense, and whether the state or federal government is prosecuting.

Unlawful “controlled substances” include but are not limited to methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, PCP, hallucinogenic drugs, and marijuana, etc.

Fairly common offenses include simple possession, possession of paraphernalia, possession for sale, transportation, cultivation, being under the influence, manufacturing, etc.

These offenses can be either misdemeanors or felonies, and should be taken seriously because of their effect on your record and other consequences, including your ability to be the beneficiary of certain rehabilitation programs, or the victim of possible incarceration.

Unique Courtroom Education

I have represented countless clients who have been charged with drug offenses in Los Angeles County, and I have therefore acquired a unique courtroom education regarding controlled substances, drug treatment options, search and seizure issues, and courtroom preliminary hearings, etc.

If substance abuse programs such as Deferred Entry of Judgment or Proposition 36 are unavailable options, I will strive to be the honest and strong willed advocate you have been searching for.  Any decision you make will be an informed one.

Always ask for counsel

Unfortunately, certain drug offenses can be punished as seriously as crimes against persons.  Until we live in a more enlightened society, please be sure to only speak with your attorney about the facts of your case, and do not forget that the 5th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution provides that we cannot be forced to incriminate ourselves.  ALWAYS exercise your right to remain silent when subject to police questioning, and ALWAYS ask for counsel.  And do that by saying, “I wish to exercise my right to remain silent,” and “I wish to speak to my attorney.”

If you have any questions concerning drug charges, please contact Sostrin Law Offices to setup an appointment.  We’re here to help.
